The implementation of the Law on the registration of vehicles with foreign license plates on the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia has started.
In the next six months, the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia will have the opportunity to register all vehicles, category “M”, “N”, “L” and “O”, with foreign license plates that entered the territory of the Republic of Macedonia by October 1, 2020, using financial benefits.
In the adopted Law on registration of vehicles with foreign license plates, the procedure and conditions for registration of vehicles are regulated in detail. The Law will apply to vehicles that will meet the two conditions regulated in Article 3 paragraph 1 of the Law on registration of vehicles with foreign license plates, which are:
- the owner or the user, ie the person authorized for alienation of the vehicle or the person who will buy the vehicle to have regulated the customs and tax obligations for the vehicle within six months from the day this law enters into force and to have a valid vehicle registration certificate, insurance, and green card;
- to enter the territory of the Republic of Macedonia by October 1, 2020.
The financial benefit refers to the privilege the total amount of customs and tax liabilities for vehicles that will be imported and registered in accordance with this Law to be reduced by 50% of the determined value of all duties charged on import by the competent state authorities, for that the owner or the user of the vehicle, ie the person authorized for alienation of the vehicle will be required to submit a Statement certified by a notary public with which under criminal, moral and material responsibility he will confirm that the vehicle will be registered after the import procedure in accordance with the provisions of this Law.
With the adoption of this Law, the Government expects that it will provide revenue to the budget and the domestic economy in the amount of 25 million euros, and also that this measure will provide systematic regulation of the participation of these vehicles in traffic, this opinion of the Government is also stated as a legal explanation.
